The Family Ministry of the Vicariate was very active during the month of May, reaching out to many different sections of the faithful which included singles, teens and parents.
Here is a report on some of their activities:The 16th Quarterly Meeting of the AVOSA Family General Body had taken place in Al-Ain on 4th May where representatives from the various parishes as well as the family groups of Couples for Christ, Jesus Youth, Catholics for Family and Life and Marriage Encounter met to discuss ways and means to continue meeting the PET (Preventive, Educational, Therapeutic) Goals of the AVOSA FM and further the mission statement of empowering families through sacraments, seminars, celebrations, counselling and support. Ideas were exchanged, best practices shared and plans for the coming quarter discussed.
The 2nd AVOSA Catholic Singles Get-Together was held in Dubai for singles in the age-group 25 to 40 years. With over eighty attendees from Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali, Sharjah and Dubai, it was well received by the participants, with feedback received that this was a very thoughtful gesture as there is no opportunity to meet like-minded Catholics due to the long work hours and hectic schedules.
In addition to the monthly Wedding Anniversary Mass and Marriage Preparation Course, some of the activities conducted by the Family Ministry teams in May:
4/5 May: Marriage Preparation Course Training of Trainers held in Al –Ain attended by twenty participants.
- 12th May: Parenting the Geek Generation – seminar in Abu Dhabi
- 12th May: Senior Parishioners Day in Dubai for the senior citizens.
- 18th May: Programme for Differently Abled children in Jebel-Ali
- 19th May: Mass and Get-Together for Differently Abled Children in Dubai
- 25th May: Catholic Singles Get-Together in Dubai.
- 28-30 May: Toastmasters’ Workshop for MPC Facilitators.
