In response to the call by Bishop Paul Hinder to fast and pray for peace in the region, a Day of Prayer was observed throughout the Vicariate.
The Bishop had called for the "Day of Prayer" in his recently published Pastoral Letter on peace. The Bishop also called on the clergy, religious and faithful across the Vicariate to pray in a special way for Yemen, where the recent unrest and its aftermath have severely affected civilians, including the few thousands of Christians who live in the country.
Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa look after several the aged and infirm in the country. A few Salesian priests also are in the country, primarily responsible as chaplains to the sisters.
The faithful are urged to hold the country of Yemen in a special way in prayer as they pass through Holy Week.
